The future of Shoaib Malik, the veteran Pakistani all-rounder, seems in doubt as he is improbable to be named in the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2021.
According to sources, the board will not be naming Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Malik in the national fold as they already have been leaned from the recent encounters. However, time can do magic as the PCB will name the team on 6th September at Gadaffi Stadium.
Also, Ramiz Raja, the new PCB chairman likely to be, earlier advised Hafeez, Malik to retire gracefully considering age as the factor. As Raja is currently the PCB’s BOG member with the succession process underway, he might have his say while finalizing the squad. Notably, young-year-olds are Ramiz’s favorites.
Sarfaraz, who was sacked from the national fold after ODI World Cup 2019, was taken over by Mohammad Rizwan and still struggles to secure his place in the squad. Hafeez’s and Malik’s exclusion, despite the wonderful and fruitful years, is out of understanding.
On the other hand, Khushdil Shah is a strong candidate to be named in the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2021.
