Shahid Afridi, Pakistan’s renowned cricketer who has joined Quetta Gladiators for the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 7), says he advised his son-in-law, Shaheen Afridi, not to think about captaincy at the moment.

In the recent developments of PSL, Shaheen has been appointed as Lahore Qalandars’ captain with the franchise’s hopes bound with him to lift its first-ever trophy in seven years. Qalandars have been swapping players, coaches, and captains, but nothing has worked so far for them.

The young pacer is excited to get a hold of leadership. Notably, when the rumors surrounded social media, Shaheen was excited then too but the Director of Qalandars, Aqib Javed turned those gossips down. Those stories have turned into an actuality now.

The former Pakistani cricketer says he advised Shaheen to polish his bowling furthermore before accepting captaincy but he did not listen.

“I had advised Shaheen Afridi to wait for a year or two before accepting the captaincy so that he can focus on his bowling. But as he is also an Afridi, he didn’t listen to me”
