PZ close the PSL 7 with victory

The league stage of the Pakistan Super League’s seventh version (PSL 7) is finally down and dusted with Peshawar Zalmi sealing the victory in the closing encounter versus Lahore Qalandars.

Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first. They set up a decent-looking score of 158 runs. In the chase of 159, Qalandars fell short of a single, with no ball left. The situation put the two teams in a super over.

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s LQ chose to send opener Fakhar Zaman and Harry Brook. The players could add five runs against Wahab Riaz, the Zalmi captain. Later on, the yellow army sent Mohammad Haris and Shoaib Malik.

The thrills began in the PZ’s chase to windup the Super Over but Shoaib Malik alone curled up to enclose HBL PSL 7 with his two consecutive fours to the LQ’s skipper. In chase of six runs, Malik’s eight let the side cheer to celebrate.

It must be noted that the playoffs; Qualifier, Eliminator 1, and Eliminator 2 will be played on 23rd, 24th, 25th February sequentially whereas, the final will be staged on 27th February at the Gadaffi stadium.
