India were almost kicked out of the tournament after losing two consecutive Super 4 matches of Asia Cup 2022; however, their official exclusion depended upon Pakistan’s win over Afghanistan in Wednesday’s match. The men in green have once again proved their skill, ending a thrilling match on a winning note.
The only scenario that could have somehow made India’s chances to qualify for the Asia Cup 2022 final was their hopes to see Pakistan losing versus Afghanistan, and they themselves defeating Afghanistan with a massive margin on Thursday. The net run rate would have then decided the fate of the team in the grand finale.
However, Rohit Sharma and co have been unlucky throughout the tournament. However, they won all the Group stage games but faced humiliating defeats against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4. It is likely that Babar Azam’s and Dasun Shanaka’s men will encounter each other in the Asia Cup 2022 final since both of them have won 2/2 Super 4 games, with one left versus the other.
Concerning the Pak vs Afg match, Afghanistan made 129 on the loss of six wickets. The chase, although it looked easy, the men in green were trembled by Umar Gul’s trained bowlers. Naseem Shah’s power show, in the end, let Pakistan cheer in joy, seeing themselves in the final.
