Broadsheet LLC, a company based in the Isle of Man, has threatened to ‘seize the assets of the Pakistan cricket team’ over a payment dispute with the Pakistan government.
The firm wrote a letter to the Pakistan government, according to which due to non-payment of dues relating to an agreement signed between Broadsheet and Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau, the firm believes that the outstanding payment can be settled through seizing the assets of the Pakistani team which is currently on the tour of England.
The PCB, however, has downplayed the letter citing that the Pakistan team is representative of the Pakistan Cricket Board which is an autonomous body and is not legally considered to be under the state of Pakistan or its government.
The PCB has also said that it has discussed this case with the Pakistan Embassy in the UK and is satisfied that there is little prospect of the equipment being seized by the claimant.
The Pakistan team is currently on the tour of England where they will play three Tests and three T20Is against England from August 5 to September 1.
