Pakistan’s key bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has been ruled out from the first two ODIs as the Pakistan vs Netherlands three-match ODI kick starts on 16th August.
Following the knee injury that he suffered in last month’s Test match against Sri Lanka, Shaheen is not yet fully recovered. Hence, will not be able to feature in the first two ODIs of the Pak vs NED series.
As revealed by Babar Azam earlier, it was expected that the pacer would miss ‘at least’ one ODI. According to the recent statements, Shaheen is likely to get back to the game in the final ODI.
In his place, Pakistan are expected to opt for Naseem Shah, who might be making his 50-over format debut against the Netherlands. Babar feels it is an opportunity to evaluate youngsters.
We will not become complacent here, and the players are ready to express themselves on the ground. In the absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi, this is an opportunity for youngsters to come forward and showcase their skills,
“We are looking forward to a good contest between bat and ball, and I am hopeful the fans will turn up in numbers to witness the series.”
It must be noted Pak vs NED ODIs are scheduled for August 16th, 18th, and 21st at VOC Cricket Stadium.
