IPL: KL Rahul achieves 'massive n unique' record

The captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul has achieved a record, unique to all. He has become the only batter in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to enter the 600 run-mark in four seasons of the league.

No batsman in the 15-year old history of IPL has scored 600 or more runs in four or more seasons. During IPL 2022, the LSG skipper has amassed 616 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.33. The stats include two centuries and four 50+ scores.

LSG, one of the two new IPL teams, reached the playoffs, and faced the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator. His hopes to lift the trophy washed away after the team lost by 14 runs at the Eden Gardens. However, he lead his team from the front scoring 79 runs, which let him surpass 600 runs, totaling 616 this season.

KL achieved the unique and massive feat after RCB vs LSG Eliminator. Along with this season, the 30-year-old batter scored 626 runs in 13 matches of the 2021 season, 670 runs in 14 matches of the 2020 season, and 659 runs in the 2018 season. He fell seven runs short of the 600 mark in the 2019 season by scoring 593 runs.

It must be noted that before Rahul, David Warner and Chris Gayle were the only two cricketers to score 600+ runs in three seasons of IPL.
