IPL: MS Dhonis hits big feat before retirement

MS Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has become the only skipper in the fourteen-year long history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to hot-rod his team in the ninth final. The veteran has been leading his IPL team since the contest’s prime release in 2008. This is something that no other captain holds the record for.

The Yellow army faced Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier round of the IPL 2021. As expected, CSK, with the high hopes, made it possible for the ninth time to straighten their path towards the final being the first finalists of the season. DC, on the other hand, will now have to go through an Eliminator round as the win or lose will decide their feat ahead of the season.

During the first playoff, when CSK opted to bowl first, obliged to bat primarily, DC scored a decent-looking target of 173 runs. At the moment, it looked quite impossible for CSK until Dhoni proved himself as the worthy tale ender.

He contributed with 18 runs blitz coming just off 6 balls to complete the target sparing two balls and four men. Undeniably, Dhoni was yet to inspire the masses despite the fact his team has been leading charts throughout IPL 2021.

CSK now await their rivals to compete in the final as the Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and DC are polishing their boots to clinch the ‘only’ vacant slot on 15th October.

Notably, Dhoni has recently hinted that the ongoing IPL might be his last as a player. He also cleared that he will not hang up his boots as CSK member as he may continue to render his services as a mentor, coach to the team if not as a player.
