Wasim Khan, the former CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been appointed as the General Manager of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The 51-year old, who has also served as the CEO of Leicestershire County Cricket Club, will take up the post next month. He has succeeded Geoff Allardice, who spend eight years in the role before being appointed as ICC CEO.
The ICC took it to Twitter to share the news and the fans are happy about it. Wasim has gathered immense love from Pakistani fans during his tenure as PCB CEO. After he gave up his post in September last year following the charge of Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman, his services were missed by many. The fans are happy about his appointment as the ICC General Manager.
Undoubtedly, Wasim has been one of the greatest personalities who have played a role in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. Talking to ICC, he expressed his happiness saying,
“I am honoured to be joining the ICC, I can’t wait to get started and work in partnership with our Members to strengthen and grow our sport. I’m particularly excited by the ICC’s commitment to the growth of the women’s game, and I look forward to playing my part in really accelerating that growth over the next decade.”
