Bangladesh likely to host Asia Cup 2022 in place of Sri Lanka

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the alternative venue for hosting the Asia Cup 2022 if circumstances in Sri Lanka do not settle in a short course. Apparently, the island nation has been struggling to get over the political, financial, and economical crisis. This has widely affected all sports across the globe, especially the home events including the upcoming Asia Cup.

Which country will host Asia Cup 2022?

One of the representatives of ACC cleared that UAE cannot host the event from late August to mid-September. Consequently, the council is looking to shift the Asian tournament to Bangladesh. The source also stated that the ACC will once again examine Sri Lanka’s probability to host before making the final decision.

Bangladesh is just an option at the moment and the ACC is observing Sri Lanka’s situation before coming to a final decision. UAE is definitely not an option to host matches in late August and early September,”

Notably, according to the schedule, Asia Cup 2022 is set to begin in Colombo on 27th August with the finalists meeting on 11th September. It is pertinent to mention here that the last edition of the event took place in the UAE in 2018, embracing India lifting the trophy.
