Waqar Younis tells his biggest regret

In the recent developments of Pakistan Crocket, the former Pakistani bowler Waqar Younis has opened up about what he yet regrets. He has revealed that not playing in the final of the World Cup 1992 hurts him yet, and does not get over his memories.

Notably, a back injury pulled him out of the all-important clash versus England. Waqar, one of the best bowlers ever to play cricket, had to return home after suffering a stress fracture in his back.

Undoubtedly, Waqar made the terrific bowling duo with the king of swing Wasim Akram. He made his international debut in 1989 and donned the crescent moon with star jersey in 87 Tests and 262 ODIs bagging 373 and 416 wickets respectively.

Although the ex-bowler is disappointed about not getting to play in the 1992 World Cup final but says that he was delighted to see the surprise trophy as his mates showed on opening the plane’s door.

I regret that I was not part of the winning side, but I was so excited and happy for my teammates. I still remember very clearly the day they came back. There were no tunnels and stairs used to be attached with the aeroplanes in those times. Big searchlights were placed at the gate of the plane,” Younis was quoted as saying by CricketPakistan.

“When the door opened, the crystal trophy was the first thing to come out and I was standing at the first row, literally, when they came out I felt someone had taken my soul from the legs and I sat down and started crying, it was very emotional but happy moment at the same time. My team members eventually picked me up and all the celebrations started.” he added.
