The Rajasthan Royals have become first to successfully defend the target in the ongoing 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Kick starting their journey in the league, facing the Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) in league’s fifth encounter.
The Royals batter totaled their most of the runs from boundaries to set up a score of 210 runs losing six wickets. The wicketkeeper Jos Buttler smashed 35 from 28 balls. Yashasvi Jaswal could not stay for more than 20 from 16 but the skipper Sanju Samson made sure to present delightful moments for the fans scoring 55 runs from 27 balls.
Devdutt Padikkal’s 41 runs from 29 balls and the next batter, Shimron Hetmyer put up 31 just from 13 balls followed the contributions from almost all lined-up, the RR set a decent-looking target of 211 for the SRH to win from 120 balls.
Kane Williamson’s bowlers flopped to please. None of them had an economy below seven. T. Natarajan although plucked two wickets but yielded 43 runs in four overs. Umran Malik was another bowler to pick two wickets yielding 39 runs in four overs. Romario Shepherd and Bhuvneshwar Kumar closed with one wicket apiece at economies of 7.25 and 8.25 respectively.
The pink army made sure to successfully defend the score, handing Williamson’s team a hefty defeat by 61 runs. The orange team lost seven wickets and could not manage even 150 runs falling short of the balls, ending the show on 149.
Their score includes the sayings of Aiden Markram’s 57 from 41 deliveries. Washington Sundar’s 40 from 14 balls although was stunning, however, the rest had no worthy additions. The top-order became fragile since Williamson was sent back by Pradesh Krishna on two runs from seven balls. Abhishek Sharma utilized 19 balls to total nine runs. Yet, the following two batters Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran went back on ducks.
Yuzvendra Chahal had his first 3-wicket haul for the Royals conceding 22 runs in four overs. Also, Trent Boult and Pradesh bowled finely with two wickets apiece at economies 5.75 and 4.00 respectively bowling all their overs.
