PSL 2021: Quetta Gladiators remain uninspiring
Quetta Gladiators, after winning PSL 2019, uninspired their fans in the 2020 edition. The team struggled under Sarfaraz Ahmed but failed as they ended on the fifth spot.
Notably, everyone has witnessed Sarfaraz as the best T20I captain. With the winning streak of eleven T20Is and taking the team to the number one ICC T20I ranked team, Sarfaraz either won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 for Pakistan.
By the beginning of 2019, his downfall started as he failed in Asia Cup, ICC World Cup 2019. The fitness and captaincy suffered. As a consequence, he was sacked from the captaincy of all formats and later from the squad.
Nadeem Omar announced no matter what, Sarfaraz will continue to captain Quetta Gladiators. As the PSL 2020 began, we saw his miserable team captaincy once again.

However, he is back to the national squad but has not got any opportunity amidst his competitor Rizwan hired for the same post. Other than that, with the PSL 6 going on, the fortune has brought three consecutive defeats for the Gladiators.
Their first defeat came against Karachi Kings as the first game of the season was played on 20th February. Later, they were crushed under Lahore Qalandars’ explosive squad.
As the third game began tonight between Zalmi and Gladiators, it looked like the purple force will be clinching it as Sarfaraz and Azam went on to add magnificent runs.
However, PZ thumped by the end with a few sixes to reach 198 runs and the game once again belongs to the team bowling first!
