Micahel Starc, the famous Australian cricketer, has pulled himself out of the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). It was speculated that Starc will be featuring the upcoming season to be started by 9th April but he prefers playing Shield Cricket instead.
The Australian player was last seen playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2015 and has not appeared since then. Starc, who has played 27 IPL games picking 34 wickets, has broken his silence on queries regarding pulling out of IPL.
His decision has shocked everyone who was awaited for his presence in this year’s IPL. Where many Aussies will be traveling India to participate in the world’s cash-richest league, Michael Starc is looking to serve the red-ball cricket as much as possible.
Mitchell Starc tells why he no more wants to play IPL
“I desired to play as much Shield cricket as I could. Enduring a few little tasks with the body and wanting to participate as much in red-ball cricket as I could with certain guys traveling off to the IPL, I aimed to be the constant in the Shield team and hopefully play the part there as a senior head in the team.”
As he is representing New South Wales, he is done with 5 matches so far. Starc’s aim is to push his team towards the final for the first time and then winning the Sheild.
“I haven’t represented in a Shield final yet, and I’d embrace to help the boys get there and take part and hopefully be a part of the group to win the Shield. That was my first purpose. I’ve played three formats for a long time, and I find my game plan doesn’t change too much across the formats but still, Shield and Test match cricket is the climax for me,”
