Pakistan and India engaged in a high-voltage match as they met in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022 on September 4th. The men in green won the toss and elected to chase, looking to win the second round’s encounter after losing Pak vs Ind in the group stage.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put on a dependable show in the powerplay, scoring boundaries and settling for 28 apiece from 16 and 20 balls. The man of the show from their end was indeed Virat Kohli, who smashed 60 from 44 deliveries.
Together, they amalgamated 181 on the loss of seven wickets as the Pakistani bowlers came into action after the powerplay, grabbing crucial wickets at short intervals. They broke several partnerships which benefitted them, or the score could have surpassed 200.
The seamers did not do what they have been doing lately on the Dubai pitch. Instead, the spinners Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz took charge to stop the flow of runs.
After Babar Azam and co marched on the field to chase, the slow start from Babar and opener Mohammad Rizwan dragged the watchers under intense pressure. Babar, who has been failing to score this Asia Cup, once again had to left the crease without crating impression. Neither the third-placed batter Fakhar Zaman did things to take them out of mini heart attacks.
Rizwan, however, made sure to settle gradually and turned out to be one of the men of the stellar show. He gathered 71 from 51 balls. Later, the wicket-keeper was joined by Mohammad Nawaz, the crucial asset for Pakistan’s five-wicket triumph over India on Sunday.
The decision to send Nawaz at the top of the order is loved by many as it turned out to be fruitful. After Nawaz went back to the dugout, the only hope left for the lookouts was the middle-order batter, Asif Ali. Asif played some sensible knock to finish the game bringing 16 from 8 balls. The decision in the last to run for two by Iftikhar let every Pakistani cheer for the country.
The game could have seen another side if Asif had been caught by Arshdeep Singh, but the bowler was in the gaze of the furious skipper on dropping the middle-order batter. It was one of the moments to have cost the game. Let’s give a look at how people react to Arshdeep.
Arshdeep's drop catch will overshadow how poor Chahal was, how bad Bhuvi was in the 19th over and Rohits tactical blunder of not scrapping in few Hooda overs!

He dropped a catch but showed temperament even when 7 were needed of 6 balls!
Spare the young man!
Hats off to Arshdeep, to mentally recover like that from the dropped catch to bowl such a damn good final over. Incredible.

Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi were the two stars in tonight's game – Bishnoi playing his first Asia Cup game, Arshdeep even after that drop, kept the game alive in the final over and didn't lose his confidence.
